Emberlite also called “Yooperlite” , a form of sodalite-rich syenite (which is an igneous rock with a high content of orthoclase feldspar), is a fascinating type of rock actually conglomerates of different minerals combined together. The key feature that makes them unique is their fluorescence. Yooperlite doesn’t glow in the dark, at least not on its own. Rather, Yooperlite absorbs ultraviolet light from a source and stores it within itself. This causes the rock to glow bright orange, yellow or red in dark rooms. If your UV light isn’t emitting at the right wavelength (around 365nm), you might not see the glow.
